THE ACNE TREATMENT LOTION THAT CHANGED MAURA'S COMPLEXION

Kiehl's Breakout Control Acne Treatment Facial Lotion, $48, available at Kiehl's.
My official stance on skin care is: "Sure, I'll try that!" It's not exactly the most efficient regimen, but it sure is effective at keeping my medicine cabinet cluttered to the point of chaos.
And this past spring, my collection surged to uncharted levels as I started breaking out like a greasy, 13-year-old boy. Since then, I've been even more willing to test anything that might get me one step closer to that bright, poreless Glossier skin after which I've been pining.
Which explains why I was immediately excited when this Kiehl's lotion landed on my desk two months ago. (Disclosure: I received it as a sample, so had not paid for it.) Look, I like Kiehl's a lot. I like that it's natural and heritage-based, and that it looks pretty and, you know, does what it's supposed to do. This is exactly the case for this stuff, which I began using on my family vacation when I wore exactly zero makeup for a week. I noticed its impact after about five days, when my ordinarily midsize pores looked much smaller and my complexion was noticeably brighter. I've continued using it since, and I'm still impressed with how great it's been for my combination skin. I've also began wearing less makeup — no foundation or bronzer or any of that — which probably helps matters on its own, too.
