GIGI HADID COVERS A VERY SPECIAL 'IT GIRL' EDITION OF 'VOGUE'

Vogue magazine, which seems to both love and loathe the internet at the same damn time, revealed on Thursday that it has put together a very special issue dedicated to "It Girl Style," fronted by none other than social media sensation (and August Vogue cover star) Gigi Hadid.
It's an unsurprising move, considering the glossy's all-important September 2016 issue featured Kendall Jenner ("the face that launched a billion likes") and back in 2014, the publication unofficially coined the term "Instagirl," referring then to women like Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne and Joan Smalls.
According to the special issue's listing on Amazon, "It Girl Style celebrates the women who translate fashion from the runway to the red carpet to the street." In addition to Hadid, Vogue's "It" girl crew includes the likes of Rihanna, Lupita Nyong'o, Selena Gomez and Zendaya, as well as a few "It" Boys — namely, Tom Hiddleston (?!?) and Frank Ocean.
We're a bit unclear on the timing of this issue, as the women featured have been in the spotlight — and in the pages of Vogue — for quite some time, so we can't imagine there's much new ground to cover. However, it does seem like a play to style-obsessed millennials who might want some fall shopping guidance, as the publication promises "insights into undying It Girl trends — statement earrings, animal print accessories and the best braids — and a guide to decoding the best street style moments." But if it's outfit inspiration you're looking for, may we suggest browsing the Instagram pages of the Hadids, Jenners and various other "It" Girls mentioned above, or perhaps the dozens of fashion month street style galleries online? We digress.
Look, we're all for Vogue's empowerment of this new generation of women who are embracing the entrepreneurial spirit and taking control of their own destinies. But it seems a little late in the game to feature a Hadid sister on an issue dedicated to "It" girls — or to publish one at all, really. If you're still curious about what's inside its pages (and are willing to part with $12.99), Vogue has also included its first-ever guide to Snapchat. Riveting, we're sure.
