Mariah Carey is on the cover of ComplexAhead of the debut of her upcoming E! show, "Mariah's World," the pop icon sat down with Complex to discuss her life in the spotlight, her new relationship and how the music industry has changed since she started out. "A lot of rappers don't have to go through what I had to go through as a singer," says Carey in the interview. "I was always in a bubble that they put me in, but I was always punching out. It was a tough line to walk." {Complex}

Elizabeth and James opens its first retail store in L.A.On the heels of opening their first NYC store for The Row earlier this summer, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are giving the same treatment to their other (more affordable) sister label, Elizabeth and James, with a brand-new flagship space at The Grove in Los Angeles. "Storytelling is important to us and was the foundation for our design vision. We curated the space to create a welcoming environment for our customer," said Mary-Kate of the brand's first brick-and-mortar space. This is what the mall of the future is going to look likeLos Angeles's Runway at Playa Vista mall is a model for what shopping centers will likely evolve to in the coming years: one-stop-shops (literally) that include everything from dining spots, retail stores, movie theaters and even urgent care centers. The reasoning behind it is two-fold; the healthcare industry wants to maximize proximity and convenience for two key demographics that provide demand for medical services: middle-and-elderly aged people, and on the other side of the spectrum, millennials who have young families and require appointments for their kids. {Bloomberg}
