High-Waisted Sweatpants Are the Next Thing the Kardashians Want to Make Happen
As a person who works for a fashion website, has an Instagram account, met Kim Kardashian at her home and has been to Calabasas more than once,
I think I qualify as something of a Kardashian/Jenner/West expert. And
one thing about the family that I can confirm is that they love
to wear sweats.
It's that Calabasas/Yeezy lifestyle, you know? Not just
any sweats, though. Lately, these sisters have collectively shown a
preference for sweats pulled up to mimic the shape of a high-waisted
pant.
Since a main part of the Kardashian business model
is to make something popular and then release their own version in
order to profit off of their influence (it's only fair), Khloe and her
partner Emma Grede are incorporating high-waisted sweats into their
line, Good American.
Good American, which is close to a year old,
seems to be doing well as it's expanded pretty quickly into new
categories. It started with jeans and has since launched sweatshirts,
skirts and bodysuits in a variety of styles. The latest drop,
called "Good Sweats," will be available online Thursday at 9 a.m. and
was "created to offer customers more flattering, better fitting and
shape-accentuating feminine sweats," per a press release. That
includes:
- Structured yet breathable soft luxury fabric for the best shape and recovery
- Contour seams and contrasting ribbed slimming panels for the most flattering shape
- Concealed zip for invisible pockets to give you a smoother silhouette
- Exaggerated, high waistband designed to clinch the waist and highlight the female form
There
are three colorways — black, white and red — and styles include shorts,
pants, a dress, a skirt and two sweatshirt styles: a chunky,
short-sleeve pullover and an off-the shoulder sweater. Prices range
from $110 to $179, and demonstrated by the photos, you needn't wear the
pants high-waisted if that's not your thing; you can also try them slung
super-low to reveal a bit of skin peaking out from your Good American bodysuit.
Of
course, Khloe and her family didn't invent high-waisted sweatpants.
They were a prominent part of the Vetements x Champion collaboration as
well as the Vetements x Juicy Couture collab. And to bring it back to
family, Kanye West's Yeezy season five
incorporated this look as well. But regardless of where it originated,
the Kardashians have the power to usher it into the mainstream, so get
ready.
