I'd be curious to know just how many gowns were flown into Cannes for its annual film festival. With its many premieres and galas, the number must be greater those brought in for any other event series.
But
it's the stars' daytime looks — typically worn to photocalls for the
films they're promoting — that always prove the most varied, and thus
interesting.
They range from sleek little cocktail numbers (like Sienna
Miller's Balenciaga frock, at bottom) to — and this is unusual for the
red carpet — separates, as modeled so elegantly by Cate Blanchett. This
year, one accessory was mysteriously absent during those photocalls:
sunglasses. Did Cannes ban those along with flat shoes?Emily Blunt in Peter Pilotto
